New Start

I started this last night. It is Scarlet Berries by Carriage House Samplings. I am stitching it over 1 on 28 count evenweave I hand dyed. I originally bought the NPIs but didn't like the way they looked over 1, so I switched to the DMC colors. It has a lot of green. I think I'll work on this in between working on smalls and other things.

I picked up the fabric for the next LHN ornament, The Skater, today. I think I will start that tomorrow night after work.

Thanks for looking.

Finished and Finished

Not only did I finish stitching on this last night, but I also finished putting it together today. That's pretty much a first for me. Most things go into "the drawer" to be finished at some later date. I really enjoy the LHN pieces. The stitch up pretty fast and are just so adorable.

Tomorrow our LNS InStitches is have a sale and March and I are going to go. I need to get fabric for the next LHN ornament "The Skater".

The DH and I went to a Civil War site today. We visited Ball's Bluff. It was humid, sticky, and hot, but in other ways totally enjoyable. We got some great pictures and we hiked down to the Potomac river. The hike down wasn't bad, it was the hike back up to the bluff. They had put flags and wreaths in the little cemetery. The plaque on the gate is quite lovely.

Well, I'm putting my feet up for the rest of the day . Have a good stitching weekend.

I dyed today

Fabric that is. I decided to try Vonna's baste and bake method today. I've tea dyed before, but never tried the coffee. Since we are a caffeine free household, I had to go and buy coffee to use in our old Mr. Coffee. So, this morning I brewed up some very strong coffee and some tea and had at it. The first two I think have what I guess are burn marks of a type, but they look really cool and don't seem to affect the weave any.

I lowered the temperature on my oven and put the next ones on the upper rack.

These two are more how I wanted them. I can already think of a couple projects I want to use them for.

This last one was a true experiment. Some tea, light coffee, and dark green Rit dye. I like it! I'm going to have to try some more of that.
Here is a close up of it. The tea and coffee changed the dark green dye to more of a blue. There are some yellowish highlights too. Nice.

After all that I got a little stitching in and finished the latest LHN ornament "Red House in Winter". I used all the called for threads, but used a 32 count natural linen instead of the 30 count fabric it called for. I like how it turned out. Now I'm all caught up and waiting for the next one.

LNS Stitch Night

I went to the Stitch Night at our local LNS, InStitches, for the first time last night. I really enjoyed it and it was nice meeting a bunch of new people to stitch with. I am definitely going to the next one. I had a great time and got quite a bit of stitching done on the LHN ornament. I should be able to finish it by this weekend. There was also some really good snacks. I have a couple weeks to figure out what to take as my contribution.

Have a good stitching day and thanks for visiting!

Last weekend

Got together with March and Sharliena for our monthly Stitch and Bitch. As usual, breakfast was followed with stitching on our miniSal piece, LHN's HoaN2. I was able to finish the last large flower and the spool with scissors.

Then I switched to LHN's latest ornament "Red House in Winter". This is where I am and I hope to have it finished by the weekend.

Finally, you may have noticed the little bling up in the corner. Here is a close up.
This is all Glenna's fault! I saw her's and when I was down at InStitches I had to get one. It's just so boo!

That's it for now. Thanks for visiting.

Exchange Received

Wow, two post in one day. I just found out April received my Seasonal Exchange piece, so I can post it here now. It is Shepherd's Bush Bulb. I really liked stitching this and may have to do one for me.It's also my fist flat-fold finish. I use the side ribbon method. I'm definitely doing more of those.

Baaaa Baaaa

Just finished the last stitches on LHN's Winter Sheep. This really stitched up fast and it's just so cute! I think this is my favorite of the ornaments so far.

I need to get the fabric for the next one and then I can get it done and I'll be all caught up on them.

I've been a baaaad blogger

I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted. I have been doing some stitching, but I got the reading bug for a while. Now I'm ready to stitch again. Last week I finished my piece for the Seasonal Exchange group I'm in and got it mailed out just in time. I received mine from April today. Isn't it cute? It's a nice little pillow with a design from Pine Mountain. I put it in my exchange basket with others I've received.

I just finished putting the finishing touches on LHN's monthly ornament "Snowy Pines".

I'm all ready to start the next one, "Winter Sheep". I have the fabric and floss so I just need to get started.

DH and I go to this market when we go to Pennsylvania to see my parents called "Hoke-E-Geez". I picked up the frog a couple months ago and a few weekends ago I picked up the dish to put it in. Ta-da! Here are my scissors all fixed up.

Okay, I'm off to stitch!
