I've Had Better Christmas'

Dad in hospital in Roanoke. Picked up the flu in Roanoke (never visiting a hospital again when they say all the beds are take with flu patients). The porcelain throne and I have been great friends for several days now. DH has it too. Merry Crappy Christmas! New Year's better be pretty freaking great or I'm having words with someone.

And I missed the sale at In Stitches!

New Start

I hinted in my last post about a new start. My first week of stitching has been pretty good so far.

That's right. Another Mirabilia. This is At the Met. I don't think this is going to take very long at all. I am stitching her on 32 count PTP Storm. Wish the picture was better but it's been another rainy winter day.

Thanks to everyone for the lovely comments on Faces and thanks for stopping by.

All Caught Up!

I have caught up on Joan Elliott's Faces SAL. I finished the Unicorn yesterday. I am not putting on the beads until the end. Here are the three other faces.

So of course I had to start something new today. I'll post a picture when I get farther along.

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving yesterday.

OMG She's Posting!

I have been stitching, honest. So, my friend Minnie at All XXs was an evil enabler! She showed me the Joan Elliott Faces SAL and I was hooked. I have finished the border and just finished the first box. Here are my pictures.

There are already two more Faces to stitch so I have a lot of catching up to do.

Another Finish

I finished Snowy Forest last night. I put all the buttons on too. It needs to be ironed, but here it is.

We went to see Guardians of the Galaxy today. It was great! It's a fun movie with plenty of action and laughs. Of course my favorite character is Rocket.

I love a raccoon with attitude.

She is Home

I actually picked Red a few weeks ago, but we had a death in the family and everything has taken a back seat. My local LNS did the framing and they did a fabulous job. I wish you could see it in person.

Close up of frame and mats.
I also finished Snowy Reindeer, part 8 of Frosty Forest.

One last part to do and it will be completed. Hopefully now that things have settled down I can do a little more stitching.

Thanks for stopping by.

She Has a Home

Finished the Snowgirl's Cottage. It actually went a lot faster than I thought.

I've already started the next part - Snowy Reindeer.

Have a Happy Fourth everyone!

Anniversary!

Yesterday was our 28th wedding anniversary. We decided to wait and celebrate today because we wanted to do the Sunday brunch at the Gaylord at the National Harbor. We live across the river from it on the Virginia side. It takes us all of 10 minutes to drive across the bridge to get there. The other cool thing is they have opened the new Ferris wheel. It's big, holds a little over 300 people, and has air conditioned booths to sit in. So, here are the pictures from our day.

You can see the Washington Monument

We had lunch at the Pienza in the atrium

There is a gift shop in the Gaylord that sells glassware, Pandora, and Swarovski. A few years ago Sam got me a little black crystal cat. Today he got me this little fellow. He is just adorable. Now that we stuffed ourselves silly at the buffet, I am going to plop myself down and do a little stitching.

Pattern 5 done

First off I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments on Red. She's in the framing room and In Stitches. I get to visit her on Stitch Night. They have her pinned and she looks fabulous. Can't wait until the framing is complete.

Moving right along on Frosty Forest. I thought I was almost caught up but the next part came out so I still have two more to stitch before I'm caught up.

I have almost three quarters of the border done for the next square.

Furry Guys

I finished part 4 of the Frosty Forest. It has the cutest bunny and squirrel.

Hopefully I'll get some heavy duty stitching in this long weekend.

Frosty Forest - Racoon Cabin

Now that I finished the big piece, I am on to stitching some smaller pieces. I want to catch up with the Frosty Forest from Country Cottage Needleworks. I finished Raccoon Cabin and have started the next one, Snowy Deer. I'm doing the layout from CCN's website http://www.countrycottageneedleworks.com/frostyforest.html

I'm using the called for fabric and fibers. I am going to use the buttons, but as I use q-snaps I'll wait until all of the sections are stitched before attaching the buttons.

Thanks for stopping by.

Seeing Red

She's done!!!!! Hundreds of beads are now on her.

The dress

The cape - 6 different beads in this area

Now that she is done I am going to work on small things. I have Country Cottage's Frosty Forest lined up to work on next. I also want to do some more of the Erica Michaels on the 40 ct. gauze. I picked up two kits after the class.

Just some stuff

I made these cakes a few weeks ago. The first one is chocolate with a creamy chocolate filling. The other one is apple spice with apple filling. I got the pan from King Arthur Flour. I love it. It makes the coolest looking cakes.

On Saturday April 12th I took a class at our LNS In Stitches with Linda Stolz of Erica Michaels. It was for stitching on 40 ct. silk gauze. The picture isn't too clear, but it says "Create". The hornbook is only 3 inches long. All the notions are from Linda's cache. She let us pick buttons, charms and lace from her boxes. She is a wonderful lady and I would take another class with her in a heartbeat.

I'm still beading on Red. A few hundred more to go.

Thanks for stopping by.

B&B

In this case it does not mean bed and breakfast. It means back stitching and beading. Yes, Red is completely stitched. Now it is just the B&B. I will be so glad to stitch something small. I have a lot of patterns just waiting for me. I hope I can get the beading done by next weekend. There are nine different beads and one Crystal treasure to put on. Almost there.

I wish the picture was better, but it's been raining all day and now it's snowing. We are a southern state. It's not suppose to snow when it's almost April. Freaking weather!

Thanks for stopping by.

Ranting and Stitching

Okay, first the rant. I drink Sprite Zero because I am diabetic and cannot drink regular sodas. For some reason, most of the 7-11s in our area are not carrying them right now. Instead they have Sprite Cranberry. Now, I love cranberry juice when I can find a low sugar one. I looked at the bottle and almost went into sugar shock just reading the label. Sprite Cranberry has 64grams of sugar. 64! That's like eating two candy bars (I checked, Milky Way is 31grams). Are they insane?! In this day and age when people are being more health conscience, even with their junk food, do they seriously think 64grams of sugar is okay? I have to wonder what kind of sales figures they are getting for this product.

Okay, rant over.

Now to the stitching. Yes, I am still working on Red. Usually I stitch several things at a time, but I am determined not to start anything else until I finish Red. I'm getting closer. Here she is now.

Almost done with the DMCs and ready to go onto the silks. I decided to do the silks later as I use qsnaps most of the time and I didn't want to risk mushing the silks.

Thanks for stopping by.

First Day of 2014

I added a tab for my 2013 finishes. I actually finished 11 projects.

Now that Christmas is over, I'm back to working on Red. I really want to finish her this month or (realistically) next month. So here is where I am. Please excuse the wrinkles as I just took her out of the q-snaps.
This really does not show the colors well. Maybe I can get a better picture later on. The fabric is more a green.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year.
