Last WIPocalypse of 2012

So, here is what I have to show for the last WIPocalypse of 2012. Not much I'm afraid. I started LHN's Around the World in 80 Days last month. Here is where I am.

This is such a sweet little piece. I hope to be done with it in a few more weeks.

Next is The Astronomer. I haven't touched this since mid-December.
I'm going to try and focus on this one more in 2013.

Now the reason I haven't been stitching as much is I knitted a whole bunch of gifts for my family in November and December. Here they are:
Beanie for my oldest sister in VA Tech colors

Beanie for my middle sister

Beanie for my Father-in-law
I knitted two of these shawls for my mom and mother-in-law

Not bad for someone who just took the beginning knitting class in October, huh?

You can click on the page for the 2013 WIPocalypse to see what projects I've listed. Its mostly the same as 2012. And Why? Because I hardly do anything small! I seem to have too many BAPs going. I really need to get a couple of these done this year, but I'm not saying I won't start anything new either. And now I've thrown knitting into the pot. Sometimes I think there is something seriously wrong with me.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year!

I Have Been Stitching

Wednesday night was Stitch Night at our local LNS In Stitches. As it was the last one before Christmas, everyone brought food and the wonderful ladies gave everyone the materials for stitching and making a pinkeep. We were also given crackers - not the kind you eat, the kind you pull apart. They all had gold foil crowns and a little gift. Mine was a little tape measure. We all had a great time. After eating my fill, I got down to stitching. I'm working on LHN's Around the World in Eighty Days. I think I'm almost half done with it.

In Stitches is also having their annual "Wear your PJs to the shop" sale on Thursday December 27th. If you're in the neighborhood stop by. We'd love to see you in your jammies.

Never buy Samsung!

Their customer service sucks! My DH bought me a Galaxy tab last January for my birthday. I've been having screen problems. So I call customer support last Monday. I get told that it is out or warranty. I say how can that be it isn't a year old yet. So I'm told to email the bill of sale. Guess what? The email gets bounced back as it is not a good address. I try 4 times on 2 different days. So I go on their "Live Chat" and get a fax#. I fax it on Wednesday. Now I go on their chat this morning and first she can't find the fax. Here's what I'm told. I copied this right from the chat screen:

Vivan V: Please confirm when you have sent the purchase receipt?
Visitor: Okay I sent it last Wednesday 12/12/12 at 12:17 pm. I received a transmission report at 12:18 pm that the fax was successful. It went to fax# 18647512882
Vivan V: I will be right with you.
Vivan V: Thank you.
Vivan V: I see that the ticket has been canceled due to no response from you.
Vivan V: The Bill of sale as been received and verified by the appropriate department and the there is additional paperwork required to process the ticket.

They canceled the ticket?!!!! It's been less that a week Additional paperwork? So I asked.

Visitor: What additional paperwork
Vivan V: I am sorry; there is no information updated on the ticket regarding the required information.
Visitor: What?!
Vivan V: I would suggest you to please contact our phone support at 1-800-726-7864 and ask to transfer the call to the appropriate department by providing the service order number.
Vivan V: Is there anything else that I can assist you with?

If the ticket is canceled how can I get to the appropriate department and if it says I need additional paperwork why can't they tell me what paperwork?

Needless to say I am one pissed off customer this morning. So tell all your friends in blogland - DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG!

I'm off to price iPads.

TUSAL for December

Well, here it is. I have a couple threads in here. I had a tooth extracted on Tuesday and while waiting for the Novocaine to wear off, I stitched on The Astronomer some. Then I stayed home on Wednesday as I was still hurting, so I got a little more done on it.

Thanks for stopping by.

Very Late WIPocalypse

I've been a very bad blogger. In my defense, I have been working on Christmas gifts. Nothing I can show right now. So here is my progress, albeit very small progress, on The Astronomer.

I hope to get the last gift done today and then I can go back to stitching for me.

Also, I was suppose to do this a couple weeks ago. Drum roll please! The next person to receive the traveling pattern is ........

March!

I've already sent you an email asking for your address. I'll get it in the mail tomorrow for you.

Thanks for stopping by everyone. I'll try not to take so long between posts.

Stitching with friends

We had our Stitch and Bitch today at my house. Minnie, Sharliena, and I met for breakfast at Denny's then up to my house for a day of stitching. Minnie is working on a biscornu which you will probably see over on her blog All XXs when she finishes it. Sharliena worked on Minnie Mouse. Helen joined us around lunchtime. She's been stitching a little Lizzie Kate. I received the traveling pattern Life's A Stitch by Lizzie Kate from Daffycat on Thursday. I started it today and just finished. It is a very quick stitch. I used WDW 30 ct. Sky. Since it is blue and the letters a blue also, so I substituted a gold (DMC 728). I also didn't have the 3341 so I used some CC Lavender Louise.  I think it came out quite nicely.

So now it's ready to travel on. If you are interested in being the next recipient of this pattern, leave a comment here and I will draw the name on Wednesday 11/21.

Thanks for stopping by!

November TUSAL

Not much stitching done this past month. I've taken a few classes in knitting and now I'm cranking out some gifts for Christmas. Nothing I can show right now because some of the recipients read this blog.

So here is my scant offering. Just a few strands of orange colors added to the top. That's it. So sad.

October Frankenstorm Wipocalypse

The wind sounds like it's going to take the roof off! Everything was closed here in Virginia. We're right across the river from Washington DC. That's the same river that will probably flood Old Town Alexandria later tonight. I actually had to go into work this morning. After I had been there for about an hour, the powers that be decided to send everyone home - all four of us who actually made it in. No word on if we need to go in tomorrow. DH is going to be off because the Fed gov't already decided to stay closed tomorrow.

Oh, well, on to the fun stuff. I got some stitching done this month. I have a new start (I know, I have startitis). It is LHN's Around the World in 80 Days.

Next up is The Astronomer. I've added about 2000 stitches since last month. Every stitch is closer to getting another page done.

Well, I have to go check my work email and see what they say bout tomorrow.

Stay safe everyone.

October TUSAL

I'm just a little late. Here is my TUSAL offering. The black on top is about all I did and it comes from The Astronomer.

That's all for today. Just a short post. Thanks for stopping by.

And the winner is ....

Tadamama! I'll email you for your address so I can send the penguin along. I hope you enjoy stitching him as much as I did.

Now some of you may notice something new on my blog. I added a ticker. It is tracking my weight loss. I have lost 32 lbs. since the beginning of August. I'm doing the Dukan diet and I have to say I am very happy with the results so far. I've dropped two sizes in my clothing.

I haven't stitched anything for several days as I have caught the crud that's been going around the office. Hopefully I'll feel like stitching in the next couple days. Blah!

September WIPocalpyse

Well, I had one finish , Lizzie Kate's Very Scary, that you can see in an earlier post and I made some headway on The Astronomer as you can see in my previous post. The only other thing I did was I started and finished The Tribal Penguin by White Willow Stitching.

It is stitched on lavender 18 ct. aida. I haven't stitched on aida in forever. I really prefer linen or evenweave, but I have some in my stash and I wanted to get it stitched as soon as possible.

Now, this is a traveling pattern so it is now time to pass it on. If you would like a chance to stitch him, leave a comment on this post and I will draw a name this Wednesday October 3rd.

Thanks for stopping by!

TUSAL & Some Stitching

Boy! That new moon snuck up on me this month. I totally missed it yesterday. So here is my day late orts.

Now onto the stitching part of the post. I worked on The Astronomer and almost have page 8 finished. I lack about 20 to 30 stitches.

I got sidetracked though when part 3 of Very Scary came in and I had to finish that. Then I was picked to be the next recipient of the Tribal Penguin traveling pattern. It came on Saturday so I picked some fabric, got the floss, and started it. I want to finish it quickly so I can pass it on.

The drama in our household this past week was our cat Gray has been diagnosed with diabetes. So it was off to the vets to learn how to give him insulin shots.  We had to change his food and we have to wait until he eats before we can give him his shot.  He is not a happy kitty.

That's all that's going on here. Thanks for stopping by.

Crazy & a Happy Dance

This past week, starting Labor Day weekend, my LNS was having it's 17th anniversary sale. 17% off everything. So I went stash crazy. First up is what I bought last Saturday.

Just Nan's Spider Moon and the fabric is for it; Rosewood Manor Halloween Quilt Sampler; PSP Garden of Eerie; Mirabilia September Sapphire Fairy

Then Stitch Night resumed the first Wednesday of September and I added a couple more.
Mirabilia August Peridot Fairy; AAN Pomo

That wasn't bad enough except a few weeks ago I ordered these for Stitching Bits & Bobs
The first 4 in the series of Mirabilia's 12 Days of Christmas

I also ordered some fabulous fabric from PTP
So as you can see, I went quite insane LOL! I need to join Stashaholics Anonymous.

Now on to the HAPPY DANCE! I finished Very Scary last night. Please excuse the picture. I really need to press the piece but I wanted to get it posted this morning. I think I want to make it into a bell pull, but I need to practice my sewing skills some more before I attempt that.
I did make one change in part three. I used the Honeysuckle for the moon instead of the Guacamole. I wanted it to be more yellow.
So there you have my very long post stitch fans.
Thanks for stopping by.

Just waiting for part 3.

Sad Day in Stitching Land

For those of you who have not heard, Beth Katz who manages Told in the Garden reported on the Yahoo  Group today that Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum passed away. She published under Told in the Garden, Butternut Road, and Lavender and Lace. She designed so many beautiful patterns. Her L&L angels are quite famous. Thank you Marilyn for all the enjoyable years of stitching and sharing your talent with us.

Semi-Finish

I finished part 1 of the Lizzie Kate Mystery. I'm going to start part 2 tonight. This is an adorable little sampler. I can't wait to start the next part.

Thanks for stopping by.

August WIPocalypse

Well, I do not have much to show this month. I worked on The Astronomer for a few days, Shakespeare's Fairies for about a week, and then started something new last week. Sadly I am lacking in motivation right now.

The Astronomer - Before

The Astronomer - After
Shakespeare's Fairies - Before (the picture is upside down and blogger will not let me flip it!)

Shakespeare's Fairies - After
Lizzie Kate - Mystery Sampler Club Part 1
The Lizzie Kate is the new start. I love anything Halloween and couldn't resist it. I just need to buckle down this weekend and get part one done.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lost My Focus

I know I said I was going to focus on Shakespeare's Fairies, but last Tuesday The Astronomer demanded my attention. So I worked on it instead. Here it is.

I put in about 2800 stitches on page 8.

Thanks for stopping by!

TUSAL for July

Here is my TUSAL for this month.
Most of the top is from Shakespeare's Fairies but the few black threads are from the Astronomer. I put in a few hundred stitches on Tuesday.

You can check out the TUSAL here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Focusing on

I'm focusing on Mirabilia's Shakespeare's Fairies right now. I stitched quite a bit on it during the last week.

I'm taking it to the lock in at In Stitches this Sunday. The cream color will be good to work on there. Long rows of stitches. Some over 40 stitches.

Thank you to everyone who commented on my finish. I really appreciate your kind words.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good stitching weekend.

A WIPocalypse 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

I had a finish this time for the Wipocalypse report. First I'll show the progress of the others.

Deep Blue Sea - Before

Deep Blue Sea -After

Shakespeare's Fairies - Before

Shakespeare's Fairies - After
13 Colonies - Before

13 Colonies - Finished!

I've put Deep Blue down for a while. I was to the point where if I had to put in one more stitch I thought I'd scream. I needed a change so I picked up Mirabilia's Shakespeare's Fairies. Large blocks of color instead of constantly switching.

Thanks to everyone who left comments. I really appreciate them.

After the storm

Yesterday we hit 103 degrees. It was hot hot hot! Then about 10:30 last night the storm came through. I have never seen wind like that. It looked like a tornado was outside our front door. Eighty mile an hour winds. There are 1.2 million people in our area without electricity; almost 500,000 in Northern VA alone. We were really lucky we didn't lose power. There are trees down everywhere. I went to our LNS to sign up for the Lock In later this month and in one place half of the six lane highway was closed because a tree was across it.

Now on to to the fun stuff. While down at In Stitches I picked up the new Mirabilia pattern "Dressmaker's Daughter". I love it. I also went ahead and got the called for fabric - 32 ct chocolate - and the Waterlilies (thanks Patricia for helping me decide!)
Don't know when I'll start it, but it really called to me.

Well, everybody try to stay cool.

Thanks for stopping by.

Finished!

I finally finished 13 Colonies. YAY! I love this piece so much. My DH said I have to get it framed. The colors on this are so nice. I knew I had to do it when I saw it. Virginia is the first colony listed and I'm a Virginia girl born and bred.

The next subject I want to mention is customer service. Some of you may remember a few months ago I mentioned that 7-11 had sugar free mango Slurpees. I wrote an email to 7-11 to state how much I appreciated it as I am diabetic. Today in the mail there was an envelope from 7-11 with a letter thanking me for the feedback. They also included two coupons for free Slurpees. Now that is customer service. Usually you receive a letter from a company when you complain, not when you compliment them. I was delightfully surprised.

TUSAL - Late Again!

Well, heck, I'm late again. Here is my little jar and DBS all in one.

Last night was the last Stitch Night at the LNS for the next two months. I know I'm going to go into withdrawl. I did get a lot of stitching done on 13 Colonies though. All that's left is the border on the bottom.
Since my parents have moved down to Roanoke we've been told to reclaim some of the things from the Pennsylvania house. I made this for my dad several years ago. He was an avid fisherman and I used to go with him when I was younger. My DH has recently taken up fishing, so I thought it was appropriate for him now.
Finally, we went down to Roanoke for Father's Day and my brother-in-law's sister had her dog with her. He is a Mastiff. Get a load of the size of his head!
He is a sweetheart. Friendly as could be. The only problem is he drools. A lot! I would never be able to handle all that slobber.

Thanks for stopping by.
